I love Easter, ever since I was little, my parents would always plan a fun hunt for our mornings, no matter where we were.   I've continued on with this tradition and have done Easter egg hunts for Avi since she was able to walk.  But in the last two years we have added new traditions we've learned about while here. Easter Egg Tree Usually  this is branches decorated with plastic eggs, but many do it with the trees in their front yards. Easter 2013 Easter bonfire. While we have never attended one, this is another typical German tradition. it is done across the country to welcome the sun and spring. Happy Easter to whomever is reading this, I hope you had a nice day! This is our second Easter spend abroad, last year we were in Holland cracking eggshells on the beach and this year we met up with some friends at a park downtown. We didn't get to go to church because we had a kiddie Easter egg hunt event today at the same time we usually go to church. My friends and I had been planing this for a while, did you know the fill-able plastic eggs are not available in Germany ? Yepp, we had to improvise, a friend bought some that are meant for decoration purposes, but they got the job done, and then Kinder surprise eggs, and other chocolate eggs, there was a lot of chocolate involved in our improvisation. Our day started really early we got to the park at 9:30 am and stayed until 11:45. I took confetti filled eggs, and two prizes, the way we did it was once all the kids finished finding the eggs we counted them, and the top three got a prize. Eating her Chocolate Egg. ...

I haven't shared much on the blog ever since I posted about our first trip of the year, were  we went from Hamburg to Schwerin in a day , and that's because we haven't really done much else, a lot of being at home and just going to school. Until this weekend that is. Yesterday Evie spent the night with us. It was fun for Avi, she was really excited, she had everything all ready for both of them. and we went together to drop her off with her mom in the city center. From there Pablo, Avi and I proceeded to go to church, Church was fun.  they had something special prepared for palm sunday. It included a pre-mass talk and blessing of the "palms." After that the kids did different activities; such as listening to a story being told and learning a song.  We decided to stay with Avi since it was the first time she went with the kids and we didn't know how it worked. Easter Break just passed, hope everyone's was as cool as ours! We had the opportunity to spend it in Holland with our friend Carmen & her boyfriend, Joost. I uploaded the pictures of our trip on Facebook, but I am going to give extra details about what we did on this blog post. If you're here it's because you want to know what we did during our trip.  Our train ride over there was hectic, we bought our train tickets online and had reserved our seats, but on the first train we accidentally got on the wrong wagon so we had to walk through like 6 extra-crowded wagons to get on the correct one, and trust me doing this while trying to maneuver a stroller, is not an easy task. The second train, on the other hand, was spacious and almost empty so that was cool.  We arrived in Amsterdam and C&J picked us up, at the central station.
