Hamburger Dom

The Hamburger Dom is a seasonal fair(or carnival, whatever you call it) that opens three times per year--Frühlingsdom (Spring), Summerdom (Summer) and Winterdom (Winter). It is a fun option if you're looking for a family friendly activity, there are a ton of standard carnival rides and roller coasters, a Ferris wheel and they even have a couple of fun houses.
Once there, you can walk around and take a look free of cost. You will only need money if you want to go on a ride or eat something (or drink in one of its beer gardens). You are free to choose what you do-or don't-want to do. Each ride has its own price, and the price of a child is usually less than that of the adult.

In our three years living in Hamburg we hadn't gone to the Hamburger Dom at all, and finally went for the first time last month. It's nice since we got to see the "spring" version of it (even if it's still cold out).

Wednesdays are family day, so if you are planning to go on rides I will recommend going on a Wednesday, it's cheaper than regular days. With it being family day, keep in mind that if you go it will more than likely be full of people with strollers but the rides and food will be cheaper than other weekdays so that makes it worth it!
