Pros and Cons to getting a loft bed with a slide. #FurnitureFriday

Image
Loft bed with a slide can be translated to  Hochbett mit Rutsche. To continue on with reviewing the furniture pieces that we've bought I will review the loft bed (with slide) that we bought for Avi's room. These are somewhat common here due to the lack of space in most apartments.  We were excited for the fact that Avi finally has her own room, and while searching for a bed for her we were leaning towards a high bed and thought the one with a slide would be fun. so after looking in to it we decided to buy this " Spielbett Hochbett - Marco - Kiefer Massiv - Weiss mit Rutsche+Rollrost"  via  Amazon .  it's fun! We were a little skeptical about the slide, since the ones at the stores don't allow kids to climb them and we weren't sure how fast she would slide. After setting it up she tried it out and with no surprise we found out it does go pretty fast, but in the end we found a way to make it work. ;) Characteristics: It is made of

One month in Ktown by the numbers.

The 25th marked one month of living in this city and it's been weird trying to adapt. I saw this post on kiki 's blog and thought it was a great idea to help keep up with what we did during the month, here's what we've accomplished in our first month in Kaiserslautern. FIVE big suitcases filled with our stuff, some that we had left in Hamburg and some we brought back from Mexico. SIX days spent at the universities guest house before we got the key to our apartment. MANY trips to furniture stores. ONE hour spent ice skating. The ice skating rink at KL on ICE was smaller than I expected, but that was okay, It was only Avi and me, she was really excited about this but was sad she wasn't automatically able to skate/good. This was her second time ice skating but just as difficult as the first. NO kindergarten, yet. We still don't have a Kita, and it's even harder for us since Avi is 5, she should be in vorschule (preschool) already! I

Furniture Friday.

My favorite room in the house, my this is a tough one, right now it has to be the living room, since it is so spacious, but we have yet to fill it.  I've decided I will be reviewing the furniture we've recently bought for our house in Kaiserslautern, just because some of the items we've bought are worth it, it took us a long time to decide and well, this might save someone the trouble in the future.  So far we have 5 major pieces of furniture and the rest will be bought within the next couple of months. It took us a while to decide what to buy first, we went over our budget and prioritized. We still have a lot of items on our list, and will be buying them little by title each month.  Aft er many trips to different furniture stores including the local POCO and Möbel Fundgrübe, we purchased a substitute for an item on the top of  our list. Since the dining room table is not top priority, we bought a temporary one. The kitchen table and chairs can be found here

Luminacia - Paseo Santa Lucia

A few days into our trip in Monterrey I noticed a hunch of my friends posting pictures with this particular lit up cattle in the back ground.  During dinner one day, my mother in law mentioned that we should go to Luminacia.. So we took off one evening and it was quite a view!

Enchiladas Suizas (green enchiladas)

Happy Valentine's day! Four years ago I decided to surprise Pablo with the perfect valentines day dinner, and since I have a friend who is a chef I decided to ask her for the favor of making everything for us (what a great gift, i know)! I decided to ask her for our favorite meal, Enchiladas Suizas, and my favorite cake, Red Velvet. and to help fill us him we added a nice Bean salad to it.  I bought all the necessary ingredients  and she got to it, I sadly don't have any pictures of our meal, only this one, b ut I can guarantee it was delicious! I had been going on and on about these enchiladas and decided today would be the perfect day to share the recipe. Here's what you need (makes 12): 12 Maiz (corn) tortillas 3 Whole Chicken Breasts 200 gr Manchego Cheese, Shredded 1 cup Sour Cream 10 green tomatoes (around the same size) 2 Serrano Chiles (or whatever green chiles you have available) 1/4 Onion Cilantro Here's what you need to do: Boil th

16hr layover in New York.

Our trip from Hamburg to Mexico was going to be around 30 hours, it is usually around 16 hours, but ours was double because we opted for having a 16 hour layover in a city we had never visited before. I had created a list of  things I wanted to do during our layover in NYC  and was very excited. We arrived around 1 pm, it was surreal being in the airport. We were ecstatic, finally New York City ! But when we saw our checked in luggage waiting for us at baggage claim, we were a little let down. We were definitely not going to be walking around the city dragging our suitcases. I don't know what we were expecting, it's not like they would keep our bags overnight in an airplane that was probably not even there yet, haha. We walked around the airport trying to figure out what to do. Our best option was to leave the suitcases in a sort of baggage hold in the airport at $5.00 per bag. But since they closed from 10 pm - 7 am we would have to cut our time in the city short, S

As you can tell I've been very distant with my posts. So today I will mention the why and then little updates.   Lately i haven't been able to get any posts finished, all because I am computerless, you would think this wouldn't be a problem, having a pc tablet and all, but it's the pictures that are missing. So lately I've been using Pablo's computer to transfer them and then uploading them to One Drive. Once I  get my pictures transferred to onedrive it is easy for me to use them,  now I just have to write everything up. But an empty house is not good inspiration, What's going on: - I'm really craving pizza but we don't have a functioning oven.  - Some of our new furniture is getting delivered this week! - We are still waiting for a call from the kindergarten to confirm a spot for Avi. - I am really enjoying having a full size fridge, trips to the supermarket are less frequent! - We still haven't gone ice skating and

Best of 2014.

I only posted a couple of times between Dec and Jan, I was going to do a sort of best travels of 2014, and started it but it stayed in my drafts. Since we are five days into February I figured i'd post it today. Better late than never.  I would like to take the time and look back at five travels  of 2014, they might not be the best but I will only be mentioning these five.  Some I have talked about more than once on this blog, and I'm thankful we were able to visit these cities. We took a day trip with some friends to Schwerin in february to visit the castle and its surroundings. London was the second stop of our trip last June, and I loved everything we got to do! Paris , what can I say about the city of love that hasn't been said already? We had a 16 hr layover in NYC and it was the best ever, I haven't posted about it yet. Spoiler: we didn't do everything I had mentioned on my NYC bucket list , but we almost everything, and added
