When people find out we live In Germany they ask me for the cost of living difference between here and the US. Cost of living is quite comparable but slightly higher in Germany, especially right now with the euro being so low. Here is a price comparison with Kaiserslautern and Monterrey, Mexico. Rent is currently $4500 pesos ($ 298.28 usd) per month  for a  2 bedroom, 1 full bathroom apartment including  cable/internet/water and furniture. public transportation fares (train, bus etc.) Single bus ride costs 2 €, if you have the bahncard you can get a lower rate. tageskarte (day ticket): 6 € and ...

A few days into our trip in Monterrey I noticed a hunch of my friends posting pictures with this particular lit up cattle in the back ground.  During dinner one day, my mother in law mentioned that we should go to Luminacia.. So we took off one evening and it was quite a view!

From one house to another, with food and more food, spending Christmas with the family can be a little hectic but we do it anyways. T his year we spent Christmas Eve with my family and Christmas Day with Pablo's family. We had a late lunch at Pablos parents house and then we were dropped off at my sisters place so we could go together to my grandma's house.  It was over two years since I had seen everyone so we had a really nice re encounter. The first part of Christmas Eve was spent with my mom's family, a fter spending some time with family members we hadn't seen in over two years (but we would be seeing again in a couple of days for my birthday!) we took off to my aunts house to meet up with my dad's side of the family.  Overall, we had a great evening, fun for the kids! although, my little sister got a little upset that we didn't wait for her to break the pinata, after all, she's one of the young cousins. We waited for midnight...

I've been MIA for a while thanks to being back home and having so much to do and a lot of people to see. I'm going to post a 'currently' update, and get back on a blogging schedule once I get organized. Reading  my bloglovin' feed. Anticipating  Christmas Eve with the family. Buying   the stuff we're taking back with us. Enjoying  our time in Monterrey Listening  to Christmas music! Annoyed  that I still have so much to do. Watching   Gilmore Girls. [This was meant to be posted on Oct 21st.] I've been waiting two weeks to write about Avi's 3rd birthday party, it is the first one where we got crafty with almost everything.  When she was two she liked watching Pocoyo; her favorite character was Elly the Elephant. She said she wanted an Elly party, so an Elly party we threw.  I love this chick so much! I had scheduled everything for Avi's party at Pablo's aunts pool like the previous two years. I made the invitation using Photoshop for the first time, I think it came out good, you? Since we knew it would be the last party with family for at least two years, I had splurged a little and rented a bouncy house that included some 'icees'.   A day before the party the weather was not good for an outdoor party, it was raining almost non stop and the grass would still be wet the next day.  So instead of going grocery shopping (for food for the party) I went all over town looking for a pl...

When Avi was one she loved Elmo, so we decided to throw her an Elmo party for her second birthday. Like her first one we threw it at Pablo's aunts swimming pool. Many family members were able to attend.  Pablo's cousin made the cake. The only difference here was we didn't get an Elmo Pinata, since a nephew had recently gotten sad that they were hitting his favorite character [pinata] with a stick, and my mother in law didn't want Avi to get sad like he did.  So instead, we glued elmo cut outs to a huge pinata that we had from a prev party. I have to ask Pablo's aunt for the pictures she took! It was a good party thanks to everyone that attended. ...Three weeks to her birthday! Tweet This

September marks the month of many anniversaries in our family, As a flashback post I figured I'd go back and share some pictures with you from Avi's Baptism 4 years ago this month. Especially since I hadn't shared this here, only in my spanish blog . September 17th, 2010.

This morning I will tell y'all a little more about me.  I moved to Mexico when I was 18. I had just completed my first year of college and decided I needed a break so I went to Monterrey "to visit."  At first I lived with my Godmother (& her family) who was nice enough to let me stay in her home. Her oldest daughter was 13 at the time, so she was getting a head start in what it would be like when she was a little older!  Anyways, I found a job, I started in July and decided I would like to stay longer than just the summer.  I stayed at my aunts house. Around a year/year and a half later I moved into my brothers house & in the weekends Pablo & I would stay at my mom's house. In December his family invited me to go with them on vacation and then when we came back I moved into his parents home.  In 2012 he was offered a scholarship to move to Hamburg, Germany and we've been here since, waiting to find out what is in store for us ...
