Remember a while back when I posted about the many dinosaurs you can find at the gartenschau in Kaiserslautern ? Well, that wasn't the only cool thing we saw while we where there.. We happened to go the weekend that they were sponsoring a medieval festival (fine, maybe we planned it). I was too busy exploring everything that I didn't really get to take many pictures of the the items the crafters and vendors were selling. The first medieval stop of the day was a puppet show:   it was really cool, we even got to see a blacksmith working his magic. There are many playgrounds all around the gartenschau, I thought this one was pretty apt for the fest going on. Of course they were selling many different toys and Armour from this time. Avi got to give archery a go! During one of the many threeday weekends we had in April we decided to finally visit the Gartenschau in Kaiserslautern. Had we stayed longer I more than likely would have gotten an anual pass, and you probably would have read this sooner. and this post probably wouldn't be a picture overload, The Gartenschau Kaiserslautern is also known as dinosaur park, besides flowers, visitors can enjoy exhibitions, activities (many different playgrounds for the children), entertainment and dinosaurs. This year’s motto is “The four elements,” flowerbeds represent fire, water, air and earth. Here's an example: Throughout its 55 acres, the Gartenschau features various gardens (a rose garden, bible garden and dance garden, & a few more). One of Kaiserslautern's landmarks is the Kaiserbrunnen (emperor fountain) which can be found in the not so city center. I had mentioned it once before, in my By the Numbers post, but today I will go into detail. The Emperor Fountain is found at Mainzer Tor (Mainz gate) in Kaiserslautern, you are not to miss it while walking in the area since it is five meters high and has a diameter of 12 m. It was created by the Kaiserslautern scultpor Gernot Rumpf, who created this circular fountain from bronze and sandstone in 1987. Since then it has been in operation and a center of attraction for many because it represents symbolically an artistic journey through the present day city of Kaiserslautern and its history. Above the well you can see the busts of Frederick Barbarossa and Rudolf von Habsburg, both are visible from afar.
