Five Friday Favorites - Traveling, Family & More.

Image
While I might not ad my favorites every Friday I try to do it once a month,  Here are five updates from this week: ONE  We finally took out a library card... after spending 3 days a week in the library and (we'll continue to do so until Avi starts preschool in exactly ONE month) it was about time. Plus, I need it to use their WiFi.  TWO  Pablo had to go to Bremen for work, and Avi and I tagged along, taking advantage that she's on vacation. We had already visited, but it was nice to get to walk around and explore new parts, I'll post about it soon enough. THREE  My cousin that was visiting is back, he was taking a summer course in a nearby city, but that's over and now we get to go to Munich! I'm super excited, as this is a city on my bucket list , and since we will be in the area we are considering doing a day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle. When in Bavaria... FOUR One more week of vacation, we haven't been able to go to the beach sinc

Travel Tuesday: The one were we visit Strasbourg, France

Image
When Bevchen mentioned to me that one of her spontaneous day trips from Karlsruhe was to Bad Bergzabe  I googled it right away and looked for her blog post on it to see if it was a place we could visit with Pablo's job ticket. Come to find out we could, but as I looked more into it, I found that a little south of it is Wissembourg, a French town that was also within the job ticket limits. I started making plans on going to visit this place. When Pablo asked me what was so special about it; I had to respond with a "nothing, it's just a little town at the border" to which he responded with a no thanks. But then we found Strasbourg to be a viable option and Katrina mentioned she had visited it the year before , I went to look through her posts and we were sold. We made plans to visit on the weekend.  Pablo's colleagues told him that all we had to do to visit Strasbourg was purchase a day ticket for the Alsace region for 12 Euros (for 3 people) and we wer

Meal Plan and Shopping List

Image
I'm back from a mini blogging break, it was Avi's first week off from school and I decided to step a way from here for a while. We spent most of our time at the library, they have a summer program that we're taking advantage of. Today I will be posting this week's meal plan , but i'm changing it up a bit, to help me make things easier I've added the ingredients I will be using for each meal I do, this is also helpful to you, if you decide you'd like to try making one of the recipes I usually do! As I've mentioned before, we do three meals a day, everybody does their own breakfast and I cook lunch and dinner. Nothing is set in stone, I have listed 12 recipes that I can change between lunch and dinner depending on what we would rather be eating, and the remaining two might be left overs or out. Breakfast Knusper Müsli Oatmeal Yogurt Fruit Lunch Baked Ziti Ground beef Onions - Garlic Cloves Tomato Sauce Penne pasta Pizza sauce Parmesan

Let me introduce you to..

Image
Diana, currently in search for a job, but this time for real. I would continue to introduce myself but I have already done this more than once on here. The most recent one being 11 things you probably don't know about me , but other posts where you can learn about me are my introduction in the a to z in april challenge, A is for About , and My ABC's of me / ABC's of Travel . I won't be leaving you with just links to other posts, I decided that the best way to add more the the ever growing list of things to learn about me; I will answer 11 questions (for a liebster award I received from Emily  a while back) that I hadn't gotten around to do yet, #mybad. 1. What makes you smile? Seeing Hamburg's port as i'm riding on the train, it is an amazing view, imo. 2. What is a secret talent you have? I can burp the alphabet... just kidding, I don't know. 3. What is your biggest challenge when it comes to blogging? Finding the right content, a

Kaiserbrunnen

Image
One of Kaiserslautern's landmarks is the Kaiserbrunnen (emperor fountain) which can be found in the not so city center. I had mentioned it once before, in my By the Numbers post, but today I will go into detail. The Emperor Fountain is found at Mainzer Tor (Mainz gate) in Kaiserslautern, you are not to miss it while walking in the area since it is five meters high and has a diameter of 12 m. It was created by the Kaiserslautern scultpor Gernot Rumpf, who created this circular fountain from bronze and sandstone in 1987. Since then it has been in operation and a center of attraction for many because it represents symbolically an artistic journey through the present day city of Kaiserslautern and its history. Above the well you can see the busts of Frederick Barbarossa and Rudolf von Habsburg, both are visible from afar. Other important things are an engine of the company Opel, wheels and keys that represent the Technical University of Kaiserslautern, a football sign

Who's your favorite travel partner?

Image
Happy Travel Tuesday! Today's prompt is "who's your favorite travel partner and what's your favorite trip with that person." I'm going to tell you about mine, with a twist. It may be a little obvious, but currently I have two favorite travel companions. I really enjoy all these new travel experiences together.  And love the fact that we have been traveling together for the past 7 years... My first (road) trip with Pablo was when we spent Christmas with his family in Charlotte, NC  back in 2008. It is one I will never forget, it was my first time visiting this city and I got to see a lot of it. The cool thing about spending christmas anywhere is that I get to spend my birthday there too, we had a packed schedule with many activities, my favorite being snowboarding for the first time! Our first trip with Avi was in 2009, also to Charlotte, but she was just a bump so i'm not going to count it, hehe. Our first trip as a family of three was to South

Weekend Summary

Image
To my American readers, I hope you had a great fourth of July, we actually hosted our independence/ housewarming party yesterday. Then this morning we went to church and witnessed our first German baptism. Afterwards we went to the Alster with fellow Mexicans for a reunion and some BBQ fun, followed by some free Ben & Jerry's ice cream (which is really hard to eat while holding an umbrella, without it spilling all over you), as you can tell in this picture, woops: but, not even rain could stop us. ;) I'm here today to let you know you can find my post about " What to do in Monterrey, Mexico " over at Amy's blog. Go check it out and I hope you have a blessed weekend! Tweet
