A weekly budget of 70 euros

Image
Alot of people have been asking me lately how it is we survive on a budget of 70€ per week. So, I figure I'd hop back on posting my meal plan on here detailing where it is the money goes. This will also serve as a comparison to what we were spending 16 months ago in Kaiserslautern. It's actually still the same, what changed is how often I go to the store! My meals are planned from Saturday to Friday. This works best since we do one big trip on Saturdays, where Pablo can help with carrying the things home!  This week is a bit different, since we went to a BBQ on Saturday and had friends over on Sunday. I still went to the store on Sat, I just didn't buy as much as I usually do. So instead we'll be using last week as an example. If you follow me on snapchat, you'll recognize some of our meals ;) Pasta/Bread QTY Price 45.53 Side Dishes QTY Price 20.36 Chips 1 0.99 0.99 Berliner 70g 1 0.49 0.49 Sandwich Bread 1 0.85 0.85 avocado 2 0.59 1.18 hamburg bun...

Life Lately.

Happy Easter! I decided to do a recap of my usual end of the month posts. What we've been up to: We spent Friday morning at home, and then went to the movies in the afternoon, #BatmanVsSuperman. Saturday we went for the first time to the Dom, more about that coming in my ABC's of Hamburg Series in April. Sunday morning was spent with friends and their kids. Monday (today) was also like any other Sunday, chilling at home. Linking up with: The Larson Lingo for #WhatsupWednesday. What we did for Easter: Two years ago when we were planning our first egg hunt in Germany we discovered that those refillable plastic eggs are not easily available here.   Fast forward two years and many eggs being brough from the US. We finally have enough to have a fun easter egg hunt with around 200 eggs for approx. 25 kids.  Granted, some of those were Kinder Überaschung (suprise) eggs and I took 15 confetti filled eggs. It was still a blast for both adults and kids! W...

Gastritis/GERD Friendly Meal Plan

Image
Follow my blog with Bloglovin Ever had bad stomach pains or heartburn in your chest area? My husband does and it's been so bad I've had to make some changes to his dietary needs. Finding a balanced meal plan for chronic gastritis was hard, some days are better than others, but we are trying a new low acid GERD friendly diet. I found a list of things he can eat online and have been experimenting with those.  I am cooking more chicken and veggie meals instead of our usual meat and pasta meals. Here are five Gastritis friendly meals I came up with or adapted and some that friends recommended we try, As Pablo's gastritis goes away I might be able to add some of our regular meals to the mix. Tuna Stuffed Baked Potatoes 4 large baking potatoes 2 cans tuna in water 1 stalk celery, chopped Chicken, Broccoli, and CousCous Couscous Chicken breasts, cooked, shredded or cut into bite size pieces Broccoli florets, cut into bite size pieces Chopped celer...

Back with the Menu.

I stopped blogging for a while, but I have definitely not been away from my blog. Last week I focused more on sharing my content and didn't post anything, but I have a couple of posts in my drafts, I'll be sharing those later this week. Today I'll be returning to posting my menu plan, with what we're eating this week. The past few weeks I refrained from posting on here since we were adapting to being in Pre-School at a new school and our new schedules.  As it happens Avi will now be eating three homemade meals a day, I send breakfast with her and a snack and she's been eating lunch at home with us and will continue to do so until she starts going to school from 8-4. So, apart from planing lunch and dinner I plan five special breakfasts for her. This is the first year having to pack breakfast, so far it's been fun! I’m pretty sure my ideas will get more creative as we go, but for now I've been keeping it simple. I asked some frien...

Happy Monday, This week's menu plan includes 12 meals, I left two out since I usually have leftovers twice. Our usual meat is ground beef and chicken breasts, I'm excited to try out the Veggie and Cheese stuffed shells, as I bought the shell pasta back in Kaiserslautern but hadn't found a recipe yet. The last time I posted my meal plan on here I actually added more meals than I should have. We left for Munich Friday afternoon, so all those extra meals were passed on to the next week. Now that we're back in Hamburg I can go back to menu planning, and not eating out.  Here's our menu plan for the week; in a nice pinnable image: What's on your menu this week? Meal Plan and Shopping List

I'm back from a mini blogging break, it was Avi's first week off from school and I decided to step a way from here for a while. We spent most of our time at the library, they have a summer program that we're taking advantage of. Today I will be posting this week's meal plan , but i'm changing it up a bit, to help me make things easier I've added the ingredients I will be using for each meal I do, this is also helpful to you, if you decide you'd like to try making one of the recipes I usually do! As I've mentioned before, we do three meals a day, everybody does their own breakfast and I cook lunch and dinner. Nothing is set in stone, I have listed 12 recipes that I can change between lunch and dinner depending on what we would rather be eating, and the remaining two might be left overs or out. Breakfast Knusper Müsli Oatmeal Yogurt Fruit Lunch Baked Ziti Ground beef Onions - Garlic Cloves Tomato Sauce Penne pasta Pizza sauce Parmesan ...

Another three day weekend for the win. As you are reading this post we are off exploring Luxembourg, we found a day ticket for 35€ and are taking advantage of our last weekend in the area. You can follow me via Instagram  @xxdinlo88 for some snapshots of this city! Wait, but don't I have to be packing? Well yes, I do, but almost everything except the big stuff has been packed (we'll be taking it apart midweek) before the movers come at the end of the week. For now, here's what we'll be eating this week, such a shame I didn't meet any locals to teach me what a traditional meal in Rhineland Pfalz looks like, but I'm okay ...For now. Here's my Menu Plan for this week: 5/24 - 5/30 Lunch Dinner Sunday Eating out Out or Chicken Parm Monday Chicken Nuggets Picadillo & Spaghetti Tuesday Baked Ziti Tacos Wednesday Pizza Chicken with Veggies Thursday Hamburgers Buffalo Chicken Friday Spaghetti Bolognese Leftovers Saturday Pasta Homemade ...

This week is our last full week in Kaiserslautern, it's going to be full (schedule-wise) with some packing involved, and I say some because 1. we've already started and 2. a lot of our stuff is already in Hamburg!
