I had added this as a section in my post about the  Blue Port and Hamburg Cruise Days but decided this could be separated because the port itself has a story to be told.  I've been on tours that take us in and around the port and it is really something else.  While my sister was visiting us  over the summer, we went with my German class on a little field trip and visited Hafencity.   Read on to find out more about this little 'city' within Hamburg.

If you follow me on twitter then you should know that last week Hamburg was displaying blue lights all around it's port and it continued on through Hamburg Cruise Days weekend too [Aug 1-3].. I was happy we were able to go over the weekend. Twice. BLUE PORT HAMBURG (Jul 28 - Aug 3) There was an official light up ceremony on July 28th but we were unable to attend, Avi and I were able to go to Saturday's event, there was a huge festival at the port. I took a ferry from finkenwerder and got off at Altona/Fischmarkt. The creator of BLUE PORT HAMBURG is the international light artist Michael Batz. His award-winning light projects and concepts have been seen in Salzburg, Florence, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Berlin. Batz first made a name for himself with Blue Goals, the city-wide light installation he created to coincide with the 2006 World Cup.
