From Cologne to Boston

I read Rachel's post: liveblogging  a 12 hour flight to Bangkok and loved it.. granted not every flight is a good one but I figured I'd give this a go and try doing a similar post. I decided to record happenings on my most recent flight, even thought it was less than eight hours it seemed to go okayish and so i'm sharing it with you today. Here's how my flight went down: Before the flight, we were kind of worried about not having any in-flight entertainment since we booked our transatlantic flight with eurowings. 13:03 Board the plane. We get happy the plane does have in flight entertainment. We also noticed that every seat has a water bottle. Sadly only the ones with extra leg room get a blanket/pillow. 13:17  Find out the in flight entertainment requires a 9,99€ payment. 13:44  Time for the safety procedure demo. 13:53  Prepare for take off, then eventually take off. 13:56  Kid behind me says: "guck mal da unten die kleinen Autos." ...

What would you rather?

I'm back! I hadn't posted at all in a week, because I was stuck without Internet. :/ but I'm good now, still in Hamburg looking for an Apartment and we're hoping to go back to Kaisereslautern by the end of this week. I saw this post on Isabel's blog the sunny side of this and it brought me back to those days were we would play this sort of game between friends... and today I'm answering these hypothetical questions of "would you rather." ... Scenario: you have a €10,000 budget for your vacation.  Q:  Would you rather  fly first class for €5,000 and stay in mediocre accommodation; or stay in luxury accommodation for €3,000 and fly economy? How many days does 3k give me in luxurious accommodation? depending on that I might choose this option, since I would have more money to spend at my destination! But I have never traveled via first class and I've heard wonders about it so this might be the one I choose. Q: ...

T is for Travel. South Padre Island ca 1995 I love to travel, ever since I was very little, we would always take road trips with my family. The first long road trip I remember going on was to visit Acapulco.  the travel bug has not gone away over the years. I actually never saw myself leaving North America. I always thought it was sort of impossible for me.  But then one day, Pablo decided to apply for a scholarship to do his Masters in Germany, he applied to many different schools and finally chose one in Hamburg. but he didn't coma alone,he brought us in tow, and i'm very thankful for that. One thing we've been sure to do was take advantage of our proximity to other countries, our first trip within Europe was to Holland, Easter 2013 , the train  from Hamburg to Amsterdam  cost us 242.58€. I'm not sure how far ahead I bought it or if it was more of a last minute, but  back then I didn't know much of Europe's cheap way of trave...

Best of 2014.

Image
I only posted a couple of times between Dec and Jan, I was going to do a sort of best travels of 2014, and started it but it stayed in my drafts. Since we are five days into February I figured i'd post it today. Better late than never.  I would like to take the time and look back at five travels  of 2014, they might not be the best but I will only be mentioning these five.  Some I have talked about more than once on this blog, and I'm thankful we were able to visit these cities. We took a day trip with some friends to Schwerin in february to visit the castle and its surroundings. London was the second stop of our trip last June, and I loved everything we got to do! Paris , what can I say about the city of love that hasn't been said already? We had a 16 hr layover in NYC and it was the best ever, I haven't posted about it yet. Spoiler: we didn't do everything I had mentioned on my NYC bucket list , but we almost everything, and added ...

5 places I'd revisit in a heartbeat.

Image
I've been enjoying these past few weeks spending time with the family, but our vacation is almost up!  We return to Germany on Tuesday, and I plan on doing some traveling once we're back home. Some of the cities I'd like to visit are: Mannheim , Heidelberg and Frankfurt. But then again, there's also cities such as   London, Paris, and Rome, popular ones that everyone dreams of visiting when in Europe. Lucky for us we were just there last year, during our 15 days in Europe. My Top 5 Destinations to revisit Just because I've already been to a certain place doesn't mean I never want to step foot there again, quite the contrary actually! I was tagged by Katrina to choose  5 places I'd like to revisit. Read on to find out where I'd like to go again! London, England I want to go back to London because we didn't get to visit WB’s Harry Potter studios. I mean, yeah, you can never get enough of the beautiful city and there...

[Hamburg] Hafen City

Image
I had added this as a section in my post about the  Blue Port and Hamburg Cruise Days but decided this could be separated because the port itself has a story to be told.  I've been on tours that take us in and around the port and it is really something else.  While my sister was visiting us  over the summer, we went with my German class on a little field trip and visited Hafencity.   Read on to find out more about this little 'city' within Hamburg.

{retro} travel tuesday: Puerto Vallarta.

Image
I Got the idea of doing a retro post from Holly (former: englishgirlcanadianman) and today I will share my sort of senior trip to Puerto Vallarta.  I say sort of because I had signed up with the Spanish class to go on a trip this trip, which happened to be after our graduation ceremony.  We rented a bus, and on our way to PV we spent the night in Guadalajara,  We didn't get to explore much of the city since we were just there to sleep. but it was fun, we went to a club near our hotel and our table won a beer bucket! I remember most of the trip, but I didn't take many pictures of the city. Here's a glimpse of what we did: - Foam party tuesdays at Collage  - day trip to "El Eden" which is outside of PV, it has a restaurant, bar, swimming hole, zip lining among other things. We went via bus, the roads were narrow and the views were amazing,   annhere are more pictures of our trip: Eating Jicama w/ Chamoy and Tajin  We were on an excursio...
