Movies and Travel (Prompt Travel Tuesday)

Image
Welcome to Travel Tuesday!  Like the title says, today is the last Tuesday so we have a prompt for anyone who wants to participate in it. This month's theme is "Movies and Travel" I can't wait to read your posts! It can be your favorite travel movies, a place you visited because of a movie, a place you want to visit because of a movie or something else.  Here are a Four places I visited because a movie or tv show inspired me to do so. Boy Meets World made me want to go to Disney's Epcot. I even spent some time in the aquarium talking with an employee, but i didn't get a special dolphin training like Topanga did. Spider Man and HIMYM inspired us to go to NYC, and since we were only there on an 18 hour lay over out of which we spent 8 hours in NYC and the rest in the airport. We will be going back in July, and I couldn't be more excited! The Tourist inspired me to go to Venice . Although I didn't visit as many of the attractions as th...

Life Lately.

Happy Easter! I decided to do a recap of my usual end of the month posts. What we've been up to: We spent Friday morning at home, and then went to the movies in the afternoon, #BatmanVsSuperman. Saturday we went for the first time to the Dom, more about that coming in my ABC's of Hamburg Series in April. Sunday morning was spent with friends and their kids. Monday (today) was also like any other Sunday, chilling at home. Linking up with: The Larson Lingo for #WhatsupWednesday. What we did for Easter: Two years ago when we were planning our first egg hunt in Germany we discovered that those refillable plastic eggs are not easily available here.   Fast forward two years and many eggs being brough from the US. We finally have enough to have a fun easter egg hunt with around 200 eggs for approx. 25 kids.  Granted, some of those were Kinder Ãœberaschung (suprise) eggs and I took 15 confetti filled eggs. It was still a blast for both adults and kids! W...

A day trip to Luxembourg

Image
Taking it back a notch and blogging one more time about one of the many day trips we took during our time living in Kaiserslautern last year, In May we visited Louxembourg City, Luxembourg, which is the financial capital of Europe, I'm really glad we got to visit this wonderful city. It has some nice views. Including it's old town and many boutique filled streets.  Once we got there we saw our options and opted for buying a ticket for the hop on hop off bus since they had a special family rate. Luxembourg is such a pretty city-even the roof in its central station is decorated: It has more capital in it's banks and investment funds than any other country in the world. If you have enough time during your visit, go into the bank museum: Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Luxembourg: Rue de l'Eau: Luxembourg has some nice architecture. Here are some of my favorites: Luxembourg is one of the richest European countries with high living standards.  Aucha...

A to Z Theme Reveal...

Image
Last year, during the month of April I wrote an A to Z of life in Germany , talking about pros and cons of being an expat, some of the things we have to do to be able to live here, and other expat related stuff. This year I've decided to write about Hamburg, I've come up with a list of 26 things to do/see in Hamburg and I will be doing one post daily Monday to Saturday. Some of the topics you could be excited for are: different parks to visit, activities, beaches, and much more.  In each of my April posts you will see this image, you can click on it and it will take you to my ABC's of Hamburg page, where you can see all of my posts about Hamburg! What's your theme? Tweet This month's sponsor:

Spring Break Dreams (Plans & Goals)

Image
I'm co-hosting the circle linkup with kiki this month and am so excited! I've been joining in since April last year, and it's been fun participating in different prompts and now I got to brainstorm one with her--we chose sharing our Spring Break plans, dreams, and goals--with the opportunity to add in any places you'd like to go see or places that you've already booked a ticket to travel to!

Visiting the Kraftwerk Moorburg.

Welcome to Travel Tuesday! In August 2014 we were invited to a neighbors day at the coal power plant near our neighborhood. Our neighbors recommended we go, and since it was related to what Pablo was working in before moving to Germany we signed up to visit it.

Hamburg, Germany vs Brookings, South Dakota

During the past two months I've gotten to know Sabra from Becoming a Gilbert better via the blog buddies network, We've been helping each other out with different things and talking about our current cities and we decided we would do a collaborate post, on the differences of living in the USA vs. Germany, more specifically Hamburg (HH) vs Brookings, SD (BR).

I'm excited to be featuring my favorite girl on the blog today! She has two weeks off of school (spring break-sort of) and we are taking advantage; not to the most of it since we aren't going on any big trip or anything, but we are getting a lot of playdates, time at the library scheduled in and we go visit dad at work (so we can play Foosball! :)

A Berlin Sort of Weekend

Image
Happy Travel Tuesday! Pablo's brother was in Sweden for work again and then he came to visit us during valentine's weekend. We decided to do something special and planned a trip to Berlin. We booked a one way (ICE) ticket from Hamburg for 67€ and paid 48€ on our way back (via regional trains). Both were for three adults and one six year old, very worth it!

A Sporty Adventure in Pisa

Image
Happy Travel Tuesday, being as febraury was too short we moved the prompt Tuesday to today. February's theme is a sporty adventure , and while I don't really do much sport while traveling I do like to walk around a city-big or small! During our 15 days in Europe trip in 2014 we stayed one night in Pisa before returning to Hamburg. We figured we were already here, might as well take a couple of extra hours to explore this city. Many visitors will be happy visiting the Cathedral of Pisa and then moving on, but in reality there's so much to do in Pisa besides seeing the leaning tower. Our first day there we did just that, went to Piazza dei Miracoli so my sister could see the famous leaning tower for the first time. Piazza dei Miracoli  The main attraction in Pisa is the leaning tower, which can be found in Piazza dei Miracoli. We spent the afternoon here, We made sure to visit inside the cathedral (also doubled to escape the summer heat) and afterwards took some ...
