Our first Halloween Party in Germany

Image
I know it's the end of the month, and thanksgiving just passed , but I figured I'd post about this party now, better late than never. I joined a new facebook group in early October and the upcoming event was a halloween party. I signed up and made plans to go. Both kids and adults were to go dressed up. Avi took her halloween outfit  she didn't get to wear last year. There were a ton of prizes for the attendees and some that were raffled via a facebook share. We all cooperated and everyvone brought something to eat we played musical chairs. We played Simon Says and got candy from a pinata. It was a fun night, I can't beleive it was a month ago, but i'm looking forward to the Christmas party in a couple of weeks before we leave! Tweet This month's sponsor:

Being Thankful

Image
We had a friendsgiving party yesterday, and it was the second time we celebrated with this particular friend. It doubled as a going away party since it's his last few days in Hamburg..Anyways, it was fun, we got to meet some new people and there was a lot of food, I'm talking two turkeys and plenty of sides. I took my (aunts) famous apple, pinapple, and marshmallow dessert , and just like at the birthday party , a lot of people complimented it, if you have never tried this, I suggest you do ASAP! This month's the circle topic is about the act of thanksgiving and are taking it old school sharing acrostic poems using the word THANKFUL to list off things we're thankful for. T - Trips we take Thankful that we get to take so many trips (I guest posted yesterday with my top 5 cities in Europe, go read it!) and that our next one is coming up in less than a month! H - Husband I'm thankful to have Pablo in my life, he is always helping me when I...

Gastritis/GERD Friendly Meal Plan

Image
Follow my blog with Bloglovin Ever had bad stomach pains or heartburn in your chest area? My husband does and it's been so bad I've had to make some changes to his dietary needs. Finding a balanced meal plan for chronic gastritis was hard, some days are better than others, but we are trying a new low acid GERD friendly diet. I found a list of things he can eat online and have been experimenting with those.  I am cooking more chicken and veggie meals instead of our usual meat and pasta meals. Here are five Gastritis friendly meals I came up with or adapted and some that friends recommended we try, As Pablo's gastritis goes away I might be able to add some of our regular meals to the mix. Tuna Stuffed Baked Potatoes 4 large baking potatoes 2 cans tuna in water 1 stalk celery, chopped Chicken, Broccoli, and CousCous Couscous Chicken breasts, cooked, shredded or cut into bite size pieces Broccoli florets, cut into bite size pieces Chopped celer...

Avi's sixth birthday.

Image
Six days ago, Avi turned six. This is her third birthday we celebrate in Germany and the second time we got to throw her a birthday party with a multicultural set of friends. We had the party at an indoor "playground" we had visited a couple of times before for her friends' parties. when you reserve your table you let them know how many guests you are expecting. On the day of the party you arrive, you pay for the guests and then they tell you which tables are yours. you have to take everything. Pro's and cons to thism you can decorate however you want and you can take whatever food you'd like. It is a big place with a bunch of different activities, forcing active play.  including: A sand pit, a bouncy thing, and more, here are some pictures of the party: The place The food You could say this was the first party I ever did and threw by myself. so just for fun I'm adding in the amount of money I spend on the food I bought for the party (e...

Why we booked a last minute trip to Munich.

Image
Munichis one of the most visited cities in Germany, and with reason! It's on a lot of people's bucket lists, and had been on mine since we first moved to Germany, Neuschwanstein castle too. When my cousin came this summer with a couple of extra days for a trip to wherever we chose, I insisted we go to there. Even though I was the one who proposed it I was also dumb enough to not book it months in advance, #my bad.  Getting there was going to be a tough choice, I did not know what would be best. I searched every option, car-sharing, bus, plane and train.    I found out that bus was the cheapest option (at 27 euros per person), but I didn't book it. I was still debating it, since we still didn't have a place to stay. All the hotels/hostels that I had found were at at least 400 euros for 3 nights. The next day I was about to book the bus tickets when I found another option where the four of us would pay under 50 euros, and I booked it.  I loved w...

A Visit From the Tooth Fairy

Image
Avi's first loose tooth  had been loose for a while, I took a picture of her when it was first loose since I didn't know when it would fall off. and we waited. She was excited, because she had seen in a peppa pig episode that the tooth fairy would bring her a shiny coin.. when she told me about it she said "I can't wait to eat my coin!"  I told her that the coin the tooth fairy would leave is not a chocolate coin, but rather, real money that she could save for our trip to Charlotte, potentially Orlando, in December and she can buy herself a souvenir or something cool. It took a couple of weeks but finally, on November 1st, three days before her sixth birthday, it fell out. Here's how it happened: She had been wiggling it with her tongue, even after we had told her not to. But on Sunday morning as soon as she woke up she wiggled it and the tooth just fell out. She comes running to our bedroom to let us know, and I ask her where all the blood was, sill...
